cnds weekly activities

Weekly activities:

Week 1.

This mainly involves registering for the module. After you do this you will be kept informed about any updates for the module.

Week 2

These activities involve the conversion between decimal, hexademical and binary. Along with this there are some calculations on data rates. There is also an on-line test to take. The results of this will be published at the start of Week 3.

Week 3

These activities involve programming a host using the network settings, and with IPCONFIG. It also includes a UNIX emulator. The key commands to learn are:

- IPCONFIG and Ping on a Windows-based PC.
- ifconfig, arp, netstat and ping on a UNIX/Linux host.


Week 4

This activity involves running netperf and netsever to determine the data throughput of the network.

Week 5

This activity involves programming a Cisco switch.

Week 6

This activity is the on-line test. Your instructor will enter the password for you.

Week 7

This activity uses client-server programming using Java.

Week 8

This activity involves programming Cisco routers.

Week 9

This is Reading Week.

Week 10

This activity is the on-line test. Your instructor will enter the password for you.

Week 11

This activity involves programming a wireless access point.

Week 12

This activity involves access to real-life networking devices.
